Development Workshops and Clinics

The Institute offers a range of short courses and workshops as part of its aim to deliver ‘Continuous Professional Development’.

Coach and Instructor Development Workshops

These are currently hosted by full time professional coaches:
Jason Rowntree (CPSA Senior Coach, Course Tutor and Assessor).
John Cullinan (CPSA Coach and Head Coach at Kibworth Shooting Ground).
John Robinson (Head Coach Commonwealth Games and ISSF International Coach).

The Workshops are designed to help attendees develop their capabilities, allowing them to advance their coaching skills and knowledge.

A program of small informal development days focusing on the ‘Coaching Process’, specifically looking at tried and tested coaching methodology which encourages an employable approach, with a relatively simple core structure, nonetheless with the facility to expand and develop alongside the user as they grow their abilities.

The advantage of this construct is that its accessible at any level, and allows the opportunity for the individual to progress from their own starting point. The workshops are usually a good mix of both theoretical content and practical application, normally run at a closed shooting ground where the Institute has exclusive use.

Although the core coaching principles remain a constant, no two Development Days are the same, each workshop is tailored and allowed to evolve according to the needs and experience of the attendees (it’s not uncommon for participants to return multiple times, taking away something different every time).

The informality and fluidity of the day’s structure not only promotes a greater participant interaction but also helps to create a mutually supportive environment, in which experiences and knowledge can be shared and debated.

Open to non-members. ICSI first year membership subscription included within non-member candidates course fees (providing the appropriate joining criteria is met.

An additional delivery mechanism for CPD to the ‘Coach Development’ days that are designed to be interactive on a wide variety of subjects, not necessarily directly on ‘Coaching’.

• The ’Aim’ is to broaden the outlook of associated topics that are relevant to the CPD for Professional Shooting Instructors.

• The ‘Delivery mechanism’ is through small interactive groups for discussion with the Speaker, normally taking two related subjects during the day.

• The ‘Groups’ will be kept to a maximum of 12 people held either at ‘Shooting Grounds’ if required or external ‘Conference Facilities’ where appropriate.
